Omo Oòdua… A regenerative curse.
They said they are not complacent but diplomatic, a person can be diplomatic and evil simultaneously.
They claim they are not fraudulent, they just love to make more money… They claim “I go before others”.
They said they are not gullible, their meekness is due to the fact that they love peace, but they are the object used for the great violence we see in our country.
My forefathers were not the best when it comes to being gullible, the reasons the British never gave them power over anything. The ones who are supposed to be our brothers are too gullible, neither will they familiarise themselves with the I go before others, they love poverty and they prefer to trek long distance feeding their herds, instead of taking western education and earn. Squeezing milk out of their herds isn’t a job that will bring healthy product to the society, they seems to be frivolous about everything , except treking.
My father once told me, it’s a taboo for child of Oòdua to marry I go before others, but I read from my forefathers that
Oduduwa represents omnipotence, the ability to affect and reconstruct the physical reality at will.
Oduduwa – odu da uwa – odu to da iwa – the principle that created the physical reality, then I ask is my father not a curse on Oòdua!?
I overheard my brother saying he will have no business to do with the gullible, the Bayajidda legend of the Hausa people, he was said to be an eastern prince who was driven out of his kingdom in Arabia, specifically from Mecca in present day Saudi Arabia and was forced to migrate in a long march with his followers to present day south western Nigeria where through war lasting many years, he was able to defeat the forces of the 13 indigenous communities of Ife led by Obatala and formed these communities into a single Ife state, then I realised godfatherism and nepotism is a thing my fathers substituted with diplomacy from my forefathers.
Nowadays, my tradition does not permit me to speak the truth, I see the gullible doing things in the wrong way.
I see my fathers nepotising everything, permit me if there is no word like that.
I see the I go before others trying to make the world a better place, earning much but at least trying to put something on the table for the society. I see some of the gullible been complacent, destroying farmlands, bombing innocent lives, I and my fathers destroying everything, acknowledging all evils with nepotism wrapped in diplomacy…
Then I though of the legacy my forefather, Odu-to-da – wa left?
Are we not a regenerative curse?
