The husband of Formula One heiress Tamara Ecclestone has been charged over assisting a drugs king.
Jay Rutland, 34, who is married to billionaire Bernie Ecclestone’s daughter, attended a London police station earlier this week with his lawyer.
He was arrested and charged with assisting an offender after allegedly helping drug king James Tarrant avoid capture in 2010.
Last night Scotland yard confirmed in a statement:”Jay Rutland, 34 of Palace Green, London, W8 was charged on Wednesday, 17 February with assisting an offender.”
He will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on in March 16.

The case relates to assisting an offender who failed to appear in court for
drug trafficking and firearms offences in 2010.
James Tarrant was sentenced in his absence to 14 years’ imprisonment in 2010.
He was extradited from Holland in December 2015 to serve his sentence after handing himself in to Dutch police following five years on the run.
James Tarrant, 66, from Essex, walked into a police station in Breda in the Netherlands.
He fled the UK after being arrested in 2009 when drugs, a gun and cash were found at a house in Waltham Abbey.
Tarrant was one of eight “most-wanted” British criminals and was featured on BBC programme Crimestoppers.
