I have being a student of the University of Ilorin for three years, I can beastly say I have seen two sets of students graduate from the school. I’m about to witness the third set, I have noticed a misconception about them which I decided I would not love it to transgress to my set while graduating.
University of Ilorin is a wonderful place to be, even though you have to go through a lot of stress to survive, only the strongest survive. Some student has being laid off, some died and some gave up on school due to the fact that they could not bear the stress of the school but the most interesting part is as each year pass by, university of Ilorin produces sets of graduates with wrong misconception I would love to address.

1. School is a place of punishment.

School was supposed to be a place of interest, but as time went on the University of Ilorin has made most of their graduate believe school is a place of pain and struggle, Nigeria school is certainly like that but I have met graduate from other school whose mentality about school is different and firm. You need to be around final year student of Ilorin, at early stage of their last semester they will tell you things like “I can’t wait to leave this school ” seventy percent of them sees leaving the school as an escape not an achievement.

2. Labour market is easier.

Only Unilorin graduates feels labour market is easier, “hey dear, labour market is not easier and no matter what happens, university of Ilorin is not preparing any one in term of pain for the labour market.
Unilorin’s finalist believes no place is as hard as university of Ilorin, this is a big lie.

As a student of the University of Ilorin I would love to tell you the truth here.
” Everyone in the University of Ilorin is a tamed student, no matter how hard things become they will not show you their cruel part. You will meet cruel people out there in the labour market and the knowledge you have from University of Ilorin can not save you from the cruelty of the world out there. You need more than the conception you have of Unilorin.

3. Unilorin certificate surpasses others.

I have problem with these, I know it is very hard to have a great grade in the University of Ilorin but that does not make our certificate to be better than other School’s certificate. I know lot of student who are far better than Unilorin student and because we believe our certificate is better than other school, we act like we are better and this make us lesser.
Graduate from other school tends to act better than unilorites at camp and most of them believe we are immature and permit me to say we are.
Most graduates from University of Ilorin depend only on our certificate, they don’t do other work while in school and those who do are few.

4. Unilorin graduates are better than others.

I have heard this a million times, yet I’m not convinced because I see this as huge lack of understanding. Let me say the fact that unilorite are always fans of their school makes them feel they are the best. For example (An elderly person at the youth corps once made mention of how unilorite made a mockery of themselves by wearing the branded top given to them as graduate on their convocation day). A lot of graduates from other universities saw them as being childish ” Well I know your university is an advance secondary school so I was not disturbed with their immature acts.
I hope we learn to change this.

5. Unilorin graduates tends to be more responsible.

Well, I’m not disputing that a lot of parents raise their children to be responsible, but I want to address the fact that university of Ilorin forces these students to be responsible and this account for reasons why some university of Ilorin students turned out to what you do not expect from them at youth corps service . Most of them are easily mislead and this at times makes their parent and the society wonder how they all of a sudden become all unresponsive to things and life, well this is because they were forced to be responsible to keep their school life going.
Irrespective of all this point laid down above, I still believe university of Ilorin has being able to raise a lot of student with good grades and enviable morals.
