Why Nigeria can afford only one Radioactive Machine for Cancer Treatment. A mystery or ignorance?
So over the week I cam across a ‘heart broadcast’ by presenter at Empire Radio and Gospel minister, Jheri Blake as he solicited for 1million naira support to take care of one Micheal whose left hand was amputated due to cancer of the hand at LUTH and also to celebrate the JHERI HAVI FOUNDATION 10YEARS ANNIVERSARY.
According to Jheri’ broadcast, Micheal needed about 1M to continue his treatment to kill the entire cancer in his amputated hand, cos the cancer virus (was) eating deep.
Then a part really got my attention and made me really bitter at our government, their concern for humanitarian, which is part of their basic responsibility. The fact that cancer is this popular and our government is putting no interest is heart breaking.
“…there is a Machine called radioactive machine for cancer treatment it’s only ONE AVAILABLE IN THE ENTIRE NIGERIA and it’s at LUTH, but the one there is damage and to fix it, the hospital are not saying anything about it, he has been discharged but the main treatment has been stopped because the machine is not working, but we want to support him with about 1M to continue his treatment because the machine to fix it we heard ranges to billions according to report we got from the hospital.”
How can we have only one Radioactive Machine for cancer treatment in Nigeria?
In fact, why do our doctors keep going on strike for their salary not paid and they cant go on strike for important things like this, why are they doctors and nurses in the first place. Isn’t it for the people’s health?
This machine is so important as it helps to kill cancer cells by damaging their DNA (the molecules inside cells that carry genetic information and pass it from one generation to the next). Cancer cells whose DNA is damaged beyond repair stop dividing or die. When the damaged cells die, they are broken down and eliminated by the body’s natural processes. We need have at least five of it across the country, this can be done!
Don’t just read this post, share until it gets to the right people. Our government should always think about our health before any other project.
